When I told people I was going to Iceland, they said:
"You mean Ireland."
No, I meant Iceland. It sounded like a neat place, even if it wasn't on the top of everybody's travel lists. It is, however, on the list of the top places to see the Northern Lights.
In my 13 nights in Iceland, I saw some misty vapor that were Northern Lights, but nothing like the colorful waves captured in pictures. I did see an amazing landscape formed by extremes of hot and cold temperatures, the earth splitting apart, and nature reclaiming ash-covered expanses of land.
